City marketing Oudsbergen

Oudsbergen is a young merged municipality in Limburg that wants to position itself as a powerful and attractive municipality through city marketing. For this we have created a city marketing plan in which a unifying identity has been developed. The result is a municipality that residents are proud of, that appeals to visitors and attracts companies.


From interactive workshops to positioning

After the merger in 2019, Oudsbergen is the municipality with the largest surface area in the province of Limburg. The name 'Oudsbergen' was chosen through a participatory process. To put Oudsbergen even better on the map, we have developed the city marketing plan together with creative agency Supermoon .


Participative work formulas

Co-creation and the use of a methodological brand model, led to a very high involvement of partners, residents and associations. The purpose of the project was to strengthen the connection between the various sub-municipalities. This was achieved by defining several common elements and linking them together.

During a positioning workshop, each stakeholder had input to develop the vision and identity of the municipality. Starting from the DNA "Naar de Kern" (To the core) and the insights from the topline research, we achieved the desired brand positioning. The interactive nature of the workshop had a unifying effect.

Together with Supermoon, CityD is taking these steps:

  • Refining the municipal DNA based on the outcome of the interactive workshop;
  • Monitor this DNA and translate it into unique assets;
  • Develop a clear brand policy and architecture (including sub-brands);
  • Develop an adequate city marketing strategy to position Oudsbergen attractively for residents, companies and visitors;
  • Develop a corporate identity manual and action plan;
  • Citymaking: monitoring city marketing in the organization, evolving the range of products, events and services in line with the vision of the marketing plan and encouraging stakeholders to promote the brand's core values.
